LEE WALKER

I went into the accounting field because numbers and spreadsheets always came easily to me. It was a natural fit for my organizational skills and it's rewarding using these skills to help other people. My accounting career began in Houston working for a boutique tax firm. In 2009 I accepted a position with another boutique firm, this time in New York. Drawing upon my experience in both Houston and New York, I decided to go out on my own and launch my own company. Starting my own practice now allows me to do better job for my clients and give them more time and a higher quality of service.
When my clients call with questions or issues, they get me, and are not passed along to a junior accountant. As a hands on professional, I get to know my clients well; what opportunities they have, what their tax profile is and how best to help them. In addition to tax preparation, I take the time for tax planning which helps clients pay fewer taxes in the following year. Taking the stress away from tax time and helping my clients maximize their opportunities is really important to me and a fundamental principle of my practice.
For my business clients, I believe in customized service, dependent on client industry and needs. There is enormous complexity to financial matters when a business is growing and I pride myself on my experience and expertise in business accounting. So many business owners avoid their finances because they are busy and they need to spend time in other areas - day to day operations, marketing, order fulfillment, etc. They fall behind in their finances and become overwhelmed. When I accept a new client I spend time to understand the client's personal and business needs and prepare a plan tailored to their specific situation. I explain what the numbers mean, they see a clear financial picture from which to make good decisions, and also gain confidence in their business practices.
